Once again, I went to the Gold Coast for the weekend. It was awesome filled with free/cheap food, clubs and surf competitions. See for yourself as you read on...
On the 2nd day of March, my new friends and I set off for the Gold Coast again. There was a group of four of us. In order from greatest to least (alphabetical): Aaron, Alie, Mandy and Nick. Nick and Alie had never been before, Many and I had gone the past two weekends, and Aaron's dad, Andrew, lived right in Surfers Paradise.

We took the usual journey, sorta. Apparently there was track maintenance that we didn't know about, so we were shuttled from South Bank station to Roma St by bus where we left and went to Nerang Station via train. After getting off at Nerang there was an awesome double decker bus waiting for us.Great surprise!

Andrew, Aaron's dad, lived right in town. For some reason beyond me, he agreed to let us stay at his bachelor pad for the weekend. He is really good guy. While staying at the condo/apartment we all played pool, got in the hot tub in the rain and even played on a classic video game machine (the ones you put tokens in). That same day, we also got to meet his mom, sister and even the family dog. That night we had a homemade pizza dinner, and it was delicious! I'm not sure if it's an Australian thing or just my mate's family, but they showed great hospitality towards us four Americans. They were all really nice, and I look forward to meeting them again sometime. Of course we went out that night to Melbas and we met up with Jonatan, the cool guy from Chile. It was good fun.

The next day we were treated to an awesome breakfast prepared by Master Chef Andrew that was worthy of an IHOP chef's approval. Once again, I was appreciative of the warm welcome that we got. After eating, we headed to the beach but it was a short trip as the weather was shit. After it cleared up we headed to the Quicksilver Pro Surf Competition that was at Rainbow Beach. Another group of our our friends who didn't spend the night met us there. As always, we got arrived a bit late. Even though I didn't know what was going on it was still cool to see whoever was in the water surfing.

Before making our way back to town, we headed a bit past the competition to a quieter area of the beach. It was so beautiful. Picturesque landscape of the Australian coast really, so naturally we took a few pictures. If we're Facebook friends, then click here to view the photos. A quick ride back to Surfers Paradise we met up with Andrew at Melbas (same club that we went to the night before) for $2 steaks. Don't be so quick to judge. Those steaks were probably one of the best meals that I've had here partially because you could get a steak fries and a salad for only $6.50 and partially because it was actually good.

All in all it was a great weekend. I apologize for the lateness and quality of this post. Well, it's more of an apology to myself, but I can be to you as well.
